- Church Based Learning Site is a local church committed to training men and women for effective gospel ministry both within the local congregation and/or through the planting of new churches in its geographic area of influence. (Local Leadership Development Team for a Church Based Learning Site shall consist of the elders of that particular church)
- Regional Learning Site is a network of churches committed to training men and women for effective gospel ministry both within their respective local congregations and/or through the planting of new churches in their geographic areas of influence. (Local Leadership Development Team for the Regional Site shall consist of designated pastors and church leaders in that particular region)

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of Leadership and Ministry Preparation (LAMP) is to equip men and women for effective gospel ministry who are involved in the building of healthy churches that will multiply throughout the many ethnic, cultural and post Christian people groups in the urban centers of North America.

Mission Statement:

To train men and women for the effective gospel ministry utilizing a practical and reproducible mentor-based model that focuses on the development of calling, character, competency and a practical understanding of biblical and theological content.

Main Objectives:

To maintain doctrinal integrity with a Reformed distinctive.
- That training, supervision and submission take place in the context of the local church using a combination of both the classical classroom and mentoring models.
- To give a candidate the opportunity to maintain a consistent family life, full time employment and ministry responsibilities in the local church while pursuing their theological education.
- To train men from a broad range of economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- To offer classes and training opportunities which are time and cost efficient for men in full-time employment
Main Components:

LAMP focuses on the five major components as identified in the Scriptures, PCA Uniform Curriculum Guidelines and the PCA Book of Church Order: (1) Calling; (2) Character; (3) Competency; (4) Content; and (5) Credentialing. This system of study fulfills all the requirements for men seeking ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), regardless of prior academic credentials. The goal of LAMP is to use the candidate’s years of preparation as efficiently as possible.

Credits and Degree Programs:

To maintain doctrinal integrity with a Reformed distinctive.
- LAMP uses the quarter hour system.
- All courses are 12 lessons.
- All courses are three credits.
- All courses follow an approved syllabus, which utilizes reading, writing, listening (audio-tape or class lectures) and group discussion led by an approved AUBS mentor.
- The student must engage in self-study, complete all the assignments and satisfactorily sustain a final exam for each course to receive a final grade.
